Focused on Sustainability – We Welcomed Bulgarian Students

Students from the Vocational High School of Forestry and Woodworking Stefan Bozhkov in Batak, Bulgaria, spent over a week with us as part of an international program centered around the theme of sustainability. Throughout their stay, students participated in a range of educational and professional activities designed to broaden their understanding of environmental responsibility.



A key part of their visit was a two-day program at the Szepesi Agricultural Vocational School in Piliscsaba, where they learned about sustainability practices and met their peers with similar background. Highlights included exploring the function and design of insect hotels, as well as the principles of sustainable fishing. These sessions offered valuable insights into responsible resource management through practical, real-world examples.
Urban sustainability was also a major focus of the program. The students were introduced to the concept of the "sponge city," a modern approach to managing urban water systems and developing green infrastructure. Through interactive lectures and field visits, they gained a better understanding of how cities can adapt to climate challenges in an environmentally conscious way.

Feedback from the students reflected a very positive experience. They found the program both educational and enjoyable, gaining new knowledge while also discovering a different culture. We hope this program will continue to inspire them to think sustainably and apply what they’ve learned in their future studies and careers.
