Erasmus+ Excellence Awards 2022 presented at a professional conference.

The approximate 200 participants gathered in the plenary hall of the Park Inn Hotel received the most successful applications with a huge round of applause.

The Hungarian education sector is a world-class success story, with good practice from Hungarian applicants in the fields of general education, vocational education and training, youth, adult learning and higher education.

The Erasmus+ annual technical conference - the Erasmus+ Opens Doors event - took place on 1 June. Active public participation was a key factor in the success of the prizewinning proposals, which were uniformly experienced by the applicant institutions as the most successful and rewarding period of their careers.

In the Public Education sector, the award was given to the "Jó pap holtig tanul" project of the Deák Ferenc Secondary School in Szeged, which focused on the acquisition of 21st century competences, the internationalisation of the institution, internationalisation of students and other similar initiatives, and the enrichment of staff methodology. The Open Circle Association's project "Jóllét tanterve" won the award, which focused on integrating disadvantaged children, reducing early school leaving and strengthening and retaining teachers' motivation.

In the adult learning sector, the Ethnographic Museum and the Kunszentmárton General Education Centre submitted winning entries. The mobilities were implemented using museum education, event management and digital tools. In doing so, they have provided staff with innovative strategic thinking and best-practices in engaging young and elderly people in the local community.
 
In the vocational training sector, one of the winners was the tourism modernisation project of the Rákóczi Ferenc II Technical School of the Budapest School of Economics, which has seen a two-and-a-half-fold increase in the number of tourism students in one year. Second prize in this category went to CAM Consulting Services Ltd., which won the Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership Call for Proposals for its training plan for the installation and maintenance of electric car chargers.
 
In the higher education sector, two universities were named in the awards. ELTE's 3-year International Credit Mobility project has involved 89 mobility projects, where participants have had the opportunity to write a thesis, conduct research or attend lectures in exotic locations such as Argentina and Butha. The award-winning project of the Károli Gáspár Reformed University served the well-being of the students by enabling the use of the Romani language in a primary school in Tiszavasvár and a Hungarian-language primary school in Slovakia.

The winning applications in the youth sector were submitted by the Terézváros Technical and Vocational School of the Budapest School of Economics and the Kalamáris Association. The 5 short films aimed at social awareness-raising, as well as the exchange programmes to help young people find jobs, had a very positive impact on young people, improving their initiative, creativity and entrepreneurship.

The diversity of projects implemented under Erasmus+ is based on 7 core values.

1. developing social competences
2. the acquisition of an EU identity
3. conscious career development
4. activating young people
5. intercultural experiences
6. local initiatives
7. innovative practices

These 7 pillars are considered by the European Commission as the basis for international cooperation and are also taken into account by the Tempus Board of Trustees when evaluating applications. István Verses, Erasmus+ Programme Director of the Tempus Public Foundation, underlined the importance of this in his speech.
 
Dr. Csaba Latorcai, Deputy Minister for Regional Development, Dr. Balázs Hankó, State Secretary for Innovation and Higher Education of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation, Katalin Kovács Toperczer, Chief Economic Expert of the European Commission Representation in Hungary, and Dr. Károly Czibere, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tempus Public Foundation, gave a special welcome speech to the participants of the event, the opportunities offered by the Erasmus+ programme and the winners of the prize.
 
Péter Domokos Kovács (Hungary's 2022 UN Youth Envoy, International Organising and Communications Officer of the National Youth Council) joined the event online and gave a short presentation on the global situation of his love project, which further strengthened the audience's commitment to active participation in Erasmus+ programmes.
