Online communication interfaces and digital tools for creative training: EPALE webinar

On 12 June 2024, a successful EPALE webinar "Using online communication interfaces and digital tools for creative trainings, sessions, lectures and workshops" took place. The webinar was moderated by Andrea Szőllősi, EPALE Adult Education Manager in Miskolc, who is a social policy professional and experienced trainer. The webinar was also attended by 2 colleagues from Gordius Learning.

During the webinar, Andrea Szőllősi introduced the T-Group training method, an interactive, practice-oriented method where the trainer only moderates and the development is driven by the group dynamics. In the T-group, participants speak "only on their own behalf" in a risk-free environment, based on the principle of "no right and wrong", following the "here and now" rule. There is "no emotion, only argument" in the discussions, creating a completely objective atmosphere.

They then turned to the benefits of online training and stressed the importance of using cameras. It was suggested that future training organisers should ask participants to use a camera, and that they should have an assistant to follow the events via an extra camera, moderate the chat window and take notes. The use of a microphone is also essential for online check-in, as is good lighting. Finally, it was noted that the online space needs to be made more active for participants, so it is worth engaging them with moving games.
