Artificial intelligence in adult learning

Two of our staff participated in the event “Using AI applications to support adult learning and training” organised by EPALE. An important lesson learned from the event was that although large language models such as ChatGPT or Copilot are increasingly present in education, the expertise and experience of teachers is still essential. Teachers play a key role in ensuring that only reliable, verified and correct information reaches students, as AI tools can still make mistakes and are constantly evolving. Digital natives are not automatically more proficient in the use of these tools, so they too need the guidance of teachers. Teachers have the advantage of knowing effective learning methods and can help students to use AI tools in a knowledgeable and effective way. The fast-changing technological environment requires both teachers and students to continuously adapt and develop their digital competences in order to make effective use of the potential of AI.

During the event, our staff were also able to build new relationships with educators from national and international institutions, which could be valuable for long-term professional collaborations.
