Space exploration is now an integral part of our lifestyle, and thanks to technological advancements, humanity has entered a new era of space activity.
Would you like to learn more about how space influences our everyday lives? Why are the world's major powers investing more and more in space programs? How do space capabilities affect decision-making? What impact does space have on our security? How can it help us tackle global challenges such as climate change? How do companies conduct business in space? Will humans live on the Moon or Mars?
Join us for this 5-day course in Budapest to explore current developments, opportunities, and challenges in space.
The course includes classroom sessions combined with group work, data collection from open sources, interactive digital exercises, quiz games, and a site visit.

Learning objectives

Participants will be able to understand the importance, core ideas, programs, challenges and opportunities of current space activity. They will gain an insight into the unique physical nature of space. They can identify major players (governments and corporations), and understand their objectives, major achievements, future plans and their connections with geopolitical events. Participants explore key concepts of space security, space law and space business. The course provides a solid foundation for students, educators, government officials and interested professionals.

Day1: Introduction to space activity - physical environment and history
Day2: Space business and entrepreneurship, the legal issues
Day3: Current challenges and opportunities in space
Day4: Field day - visit to CSFK observatory
Day5: Space table-top exercise - crisis resolution

Methodology & assessment

Participants will:
- Participate in lessons.
- Play fun warm-up activity games and class quiz
- Engage in a group discussion or brainstorming session related to the topic.
- Play board games and tabletop exercises to gain insight into crisis management
- Engage in role-play scenarios and multi-layered decision-making simulations.
- Participate in an interactive quiz or a quick game to review key concepts.
- Be introduced to new grammar structures, vocabulary, or communication skills using interactive methods such as role-plays, skits, or interactive presentations.
- Experience creative visuals, like flashcards or posters, to illustrate new concepts.
- Receive feedback during and after activities.
- Experience positive reinforcement.
- Summarize the main points of the lesson.
- Be assigned a creative homework task.
- On-site visit.
